“We can go on the walk that Elroy used to take every day in town.”

Our editor, Maria Moore, said to Emily Leibin, a young architecture student in New York City who is researching the life and architecture of Elroy Webber, who retired to New Hartford and lived in town from the ’80s until 2001. If you have any special memories of the older gentleman who, dressed in his boating shirt and white hat, walked every day from his home on Church Street (North) to Black Bridge and back, please share them with our editor so that she may pass them along to Emily this afternoon when Emily is making a special trip to New Hartford to learn more about the curmudgeonly gentleman with a soft spot for the ladies. Photos of Elroy would be greatly appreciated ~ or even a copy of that video that was taken at Elroy’s birthday party for his 90th birthday…

Contribute to the …NHGrapevine… Let us know what you’ve heard - or seen - in town and we’ll add it to this section. Want to catch up on past Grapevine quotes? Check out the …NHGrapevine.. section

‘Nights At The Beekley’ Features Kenny White this Saturday

Urban singer/songwriter Kenny White will be appearing this Saturday as part of the Beekley Library’s music series ‘Nights at the Beekley’. Kenny’s songs explore risk-111409nightskennywhitehs1taking in life and love, a topic close to his heart and experience. His songs are well-crafted, laid-back folk-pop-rock. He has composed hundreds of jingles for radio and TV commercials and added his piano to many films, including Message in a Bottle, Ed TV, A Walk on the Moon, Forces of Nature, Where the Heart Is, Edie & Pen, and four John Sayles films. He has toured with Jonathan Edwards, Shawn Colvin, Cheryl Wheeler, Peter Wolf, and Richard Shindell. He is currently touring with Judy Collins.

Kenny’s music is sophisticated and intelligent, with arrangements that run from jazzy to Sixties’ rock to almost classical.

The American Songwriter has said about Kenny’s music: “The songs are so rich in melody that if Kenny were to hum them, we would still love them. Alas, not only does he not hum, he has filled these songs with some of the most mature, contemplative, insightful, poignant, imaginative and hilarious lyrics that we have heard, well, ever.”

Kenny White will be appearing at the Beekley Library this coming Saturday, November 14. There is a reception at 7:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $20 and tickets are still available.

For more information: Please call 860-379-7235, or visit the Beekley Library’s website.
