- An American Collector’s Christmas: from 11:00 through 3:00 p.m. at the Hill-Stead Museum, 35 Mountain Road, Farmington. Enjoy a rare glimpse into the holiday environment of a well-to-do New England family at the turn-of-the-20th-century. - Christmas at the Tavern from 1:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m. at Squire’s Tavern, 100 East River Road, Pleasant Valley. Sponsored by the Barkhamsted Historical Society. Visit this farm that dates back to the 1790s and see how the Ullman family, a German family that bought the farm in 1885, celebrated Christmas.

Our editor, Maria Moore, said to her husband Bob, as they dropped off the last of their visitors from Christmas. And they agreed: it would be nice to have their home to themselves again, but they both felt sad to see their loved ones leave their lives again even if, as in this case, Bob’s brother is within a half-hour drive.
