The NewHartfordPlus crew prefers to report on our community’s news rather than be the news. On this one occasion, though, we are making an exception to report on our own news, which we hope you’ll agree is great news for our community:
NewHartfordPlus has moved into new office space in downtown New Hartford. The office space is located in the New Hartford House on the corner of Main Street and Bridge Street. “We’re really excited to have an office downtown,” Maria Moore, editor of the hyperlocal news website said. “This gives us a base downtown from which to do our reporting and will allow us to meet with members of the community in our own private space, without needing to meet at DDs or other public spaces.” Another advantage of not working out of their living room at home, Bob Moore, the techie, said is that they’ll be able to switch off the lights at the office and leave their work behind them. So far, judging from the lights being on at the office late into the evening, they haven’t been doing too well at that. But give them time…
NH+ Independent: 1st Edition On Saturday, Sept. 15
With the move to their new office completed, the NHPlus crew is now working on their next step: the launch of a print edition of their news site. Beginning Saturday, September 15, the NHPlus crew will publish a weekly newspaper, the NH+ Independent, with news of New Hartford and Barkhamsted, sister communities along the Upper Farmington River Valley.
The NH+ Independent will be delivered free of charge to every home in New Hartford (both New Hartford and Pine Meadow zip codes) and Barkhamsted (both Pleasant Valley and Riverton zip codes). The newspaper is scheduled to be delivered on Saturday mornings, with the cooperation of our local post offices, of course. The Independent will be funded by advertising revenue, from both businesses and individuals through the purchase of display and/or classified ads. The NewHartfordPlus crew will be soliciting ads from the community and beyond through the NH+ Independent, by email, by phone and in person.

For a downloadable PDF of the ad sizes, click on the following link: NH+ Independent Ad Sizes, 9/10/2012 (10). To place an ad in the NH+ Independent or for more information email info@newhartfordplus.com or call 860-309-7526.
The publication of a weekly newspaper comes after 3 years and 8 months of covering our community’s news online. The NH+ Crew believes there is a need for a quality, free newspaper in our community that is locally written and locally produced. With your support we look forward to bringing you your local news through the NH+ Independent as well as on NewHartfordPlus.com. Let the presses roll!
