OFFICIAL NEW HARTFORD RESULTS OF BOTH PRIMARIES ADDED: Chris Murphy Wins Democratic Primary; Linda McMahon Wins Republican Primary

OFFICIAL RESULTS OF BOTH PRIMARIES

Following are the official results of both primaries as transmitted by Donna LaPlante, New Hartford Town Clerk, on Wednesday, August 15.

DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY:

Chris Murphy won the Democratic primary.  The total votes from both District 1 (Town Hall) and District 2 (South End) were as follows:

Christopher S. Murphy: Total = 149

Susan Bysiewicz: Total = 70

REPUBLICAN PRIMARY:

Linda McMahon won the Republican Primary.  The breakdown of the votes from both districts are as follows:

Linda McMahon: Total = 378

Christopher Shays: Total = 76

UNOFFICIAL RESULTS OF BOTH PRIMARIES

DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY:

Chris Murphy won the Democratic primary.  The votes from both District 1 (Town Hall) and District 2 (South End) were as follows:

Christopher S. Murphy: Total = 149

Breakdown:

  • District 1:  83
  • District 2:  66

The votes for Susan Bysiewicz for both districts are as follows:

Susan Bysiewicz: Total = 70

Breakdown:

  • District 1:  33
  • District 2: 37

REPUBLICAN PRIMARY:

Linda McMahon won the Republican Primary.  The breakdown of the votes from both districts are as follows:

Linda McMahon: Total = 377

Breakdown:

  • District 1:  164
  • District 2:  213

The votes for Chris Shays for both districts are as follows:

Christopher Shays: Total = 74

Breakdown:

  • District 1:  34
  • District 2: 40

4 p.m. Update:

Voter turnout at both polling places was light for the first part of the day.  By 2 p.m. only 7.9% of Democrats had cast their vote while by 3:30 p.m.  23% of registered Republicans had voted.  We’ll provide an additional update on the turnout in a short while.

Primaries are being held today by both the Democratic and the Republican parties. Voting will take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at New Hartford Town Hall (District 1) and South End Fire House (District 2). Not sure at which of the town’s two polling places you should vote in? Visit the Secretary of State’s website to enter your address in the Google Election Center app to find which district you vote in.

The two winners of today’s primaries will run against each other at this coming November’s elections. The winner of the November election will fill Senator Joe Liebermann’s Senate seat; Sen. Liberman has announced that he will retire at the end of his current term.

Following are copies of the legal notices published in area print newspapers, together with copies of both ballots and links to each candidate’s website. We hope this information will help you “brush up” on your party’s candidates.

Please take a few minutes to stop by your voting place and cast your vote for the person that you believe will best represent your voice in Washington, DC.
