Marching Band Musicians are needed to march in the Independence Day Parade in Barkhamsted. The Parade is Wednesday, July 4th. Musicians of all ages are welcome, regardless of playing experience, from elementary school to senior citizen. Be in one of the only Independence Day Parades in our area!
The Star Band uniform is blue jeans with white or red shirts. Music is provided; musicians provide their own instrument and music lyre.
Parade forms on Wednesday, July 4, on West River Road in the Pleasant Valley section of Barkhamsted at 10:00 a.m. and steps off at 10:30 a.m., marching to Barkhamsted Elementary School for ceremonies.
Please note that due to parking restrictions, you will need to either be dropped off where the Parade forms, or park at the Barkhamsted Elementary School and walk down West River Road to where the parade starts.
Band Rehearsal will be held on Tuesday, July 3, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Barkhamsted Elementary School, Route 318, Ripley Hill Road, rain or shine.

New Principal Hired For Barkhamsted School

The following is an announcement we received from Jeff Linton, School Superintendent of Barkhamsted, regarding the hiring of a new Principal for the Barkhamsted School:
The Barkhamsted Board of Education and Superintendent of the Barkhamsted School, Jeffrey Linton, are pleased to announce the hiring of a new principal for the Barkhamsted School. Mrs. Kristen Plocki was appointed by unanimous vote of the Board of Education. Mrs. Plocki will start work in July at the school.
Mrs. Plocki has worked as the head teacher at the Wheeler School, Plainville, CT, as instructional leader for the K-12 physical education and health department for the Plainville schools, and as a physical education and health teacher at the elementary level. She also taught at the middle and elementary levels in the Coventry, CT school system. Mrs. Plocki received her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, her master’s degree from ECSU and her 6th year in educational leadership at CCSU.
