The Summer Solstice – the beginning of Summer – in our part of the world was yesterday evening, Wednesday, June 20 at 7:09 p.m. so today is the first full day of summer and boy, can we feel it! With the temperature in the low ’90s and forecast to hit ’95 today, it’s the kind of day when keeping cool is uppermost on everyone’s mind.
Whether you’re lucky enough to be at the beach or on the water, or – like some of us – hard at work indoors, remember:

- Drink plenty of liquids (sorry, alcohol doesn’t count);
- Avoid being out in the direct sun during the hottest part of the day;
- If you must be out in the sun, wear a hat, light clothing, and use plenty of sunscreen;
- Avoid strenuous activity!
Need a cool place to hang out? The Senior Center on the third floor of Town Hall is air-conditioned and is a great place to sit and read magazines and keep cool.
A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF CONNECTICUT UNTIL 8 PM THIS EVENING, THURSDAY, JUNE 21.
