‘Wolverines At Work’: Snapshot

We received the following photo from Steve Roth, President of New Hartford Football & Cheer, showing members of the Wolverines this past Saturday morning, December 2, at Brodie Park South helping to repair the damage to the field area where several trucks had gotten stuck while attempting to retrieve their program’s storage POD in the park.  Steve emailed us his consent for us to use the photo of the players on NHPlus and he added: “I appreciate your crediting NHYFC for its responsible stewardship of the playing fields that we all value so much.”

Thanks to the kids and their families for arranging this work party.  Now lets see the kids been taught the importance of been stewards of this property as a town park.  Maybe arrange to go on a hike with the conservation group to learn about the creatures and the plants that live on this property?  Coexisting with nature will ensure that our town’s open spaces and parks will be there for future generations to enjoy.

It was football’s illegal storage POD?  It seems out of character for kids and families that are illegally using the park without permission from the town and causing  irreperable damage to the environment to be fixing this damage caused by the POD company.  Especially after they usually just leave behind piles of garbage everywhere and are forcing the town to cut down trees and mow additional grasslands that should be preserved for the wildlife.  Maybe we all have to take a “time out” and re-assess our thoughts on this topic.  I’m glad the Friends of NH+ advised you to post this update.  Please continue to keep us updated on the truth, Maria.  Your readers really appreciate it.

FYI, I have photos of the Eagle Leasing Company guys who were up at the park working from 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. (when we left), and I’ll be posting them with an article on an interview with First Selectman Dan Jerram which I’m working on right now.
