We received the following press release from the New Hartford Lions Club regarding one of our favorite events of the year: the Giant Flea Market at Brodie Park this coming Saturday:
If you like getting great deals on a wide variety of home, gift, personal and other items, stop by the outdoor Flea Market charity fundraiser to benefit the local New Hartford community and Lions Club eyesight initiatives on Saturday, June 4 at Brodie Park. The New Hartford Lions Club’s event is expected to feature more than 75 dealers offering everything from antiques, vintage items, collectibles and jewelry to tools, home products, tag sale and arts and crafts items and plants. The Club’s Giant Flea Market is a nearly 20-year tradition to raise funds for local scholarships, families in need, and civic projects as well as Lions eye research.
Admission is $1.50 or $1.00 with a coupon available from the Club’s website. Children under age 12 get in for free. The Flea Market is open from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. with early buying at 6:30 a.m. for an increased fee of $5.00. The Lions Club members organize and hold the Flea Market twice each year: the first Saturday in June and the fourth Saturday in September at Brodie Park, 580 West Hill Road in New Hartford.
Co-Chair of the event and Lions Club Member Don Beyer said: “Strolling through the Lions Flea Market in Brodie’s country park setting is fun for all ages because there is literally something that appeals to everyone in this event. In addition to terrific bargains and great finds, the show features live music by local band C-Side Alley plus food, free parking and door prizes.” Co-Chair Pat Petrella said: “The Flea Markets are a beloved community tradition in our town and the net proceeds all go to charitable purposes including our annual Lions scholarships awarded in June. Come and savor our fresh-squeezed lemonade and home-baked desserts, enjoy a lovely day browsing and buying outside, and help a good cause at the same time!”
The Giant Flea Market is held rain or shine. No pets are allowed. If you are a craft person, an artist or just have good stuff to sell, there are some dealer spaces still available according to the Lions Club.
